Traditional Lime Plastering

Three-coat lime plaster and render systems that allow historic buildings to breathe as they were built to.

Cement renders trap moisture in solid walls and drive decay into the stone behind them. Traditional lime plaster does the opposite: it is soft, breathable, self-healing and sacrificial. We apply hot-mixed and putty lime systems in three coats, with haired backing coats and traditional finishes matched to the original.

What this includes

  • Three-coat internal lime plastering
  • External lime render and harling
  • Hot-mixed and lime putty systems
  • Hair-reinforced backing coats
  • Lime washing and mineral finishes
  • Careful removal of failed cement render
  • Historic plaster and moulding repair
